Which export/import feature should I use?

WP Data Access offers two types of exports and imports:

  • Data Explorer main page export/import
  • Data Explorer table page export/import

Data Explorer main page export/import

Only available to administrators!

Use these features to export/import complete tables (use bulk export to export multiple tables at ones). The export file includes a create table and an insert into statements for every exported table.

Data Explorer table page export/import

You can make these available to any user having any role! (use Data Menus from the WP Data Access menu)

Use these features to export/import a selected number of records from a specific table (the table shown on the Data Explorer page). The export file includes only one insert into statement. The import feature on a Data Explorer table page only supports the import of data into the table displayed on the page. Any other statement than an insert into the table on the page will be rejected. Use the import feature of the Data Explorer main page to import any valid import file.

Why having two different types of exports/imports?

The Data Explorer table page can be made available to any user having any role (use Data Menus from the WP Data Access menu). The Data Explorer main page is only available to administators. If you give a subscriber access to a specific table, that user will be able to only perform exports and imports on that table. Only the administrator is allowed to perform exports and imports on all tables.
