Column filters

Column filters allow users to search within specific columns. To enable this feature, go to the Table Builder’s table menu and select the enable column filters option. Here, you can also adjust the position of the column filters.

Column filters can be activated for specific columns from the Table Builder’s columns menu:

  • Go to the Table Builder’s columns menu
  • Click on a column
  • Open column actions
  • Enable column filtering
  • Choose your preferred filter type

Supported filter types #

  • Searchbox: supports various search modes with free data entry
  • Drop-down List: allows selecting a single value from a list
  • Multi-select Drop-down List: supports multiple selections
  • Search Pane: enables multiple selections from multiple lines

When column filtering is enabled, a search field is added to the table for column-specific searches. A search box allows wildcard searches, while drop-down lists perform exact searches. Exact searches can improve performance, especially when the searched columns are well-indexed. Different column filters can be combined for more refined searches.

Column filter order #

To change the order of your column filters, go to the Table Builder’s columns menu and update the order field to reflect the desired sequence of column filters.

Cascading lists #

List-based column filters can be cascaded. When a column filter is changed, the cascading lists update to show only selections that match the updated filters. This setting does not affect the global filter or search box column filters.

Positioning #

The following are possible positions for your column filters relative to your data table.

  • Above – positions your column filters above the whole table.
  • Right – positions your column filters on the right of the whole table.
  • Below – positions your column filters below the whole table.
  • Left – positions your column filters on the left of the whole table.
  • Header – positions your column filters on the header of the column.

Column Filters Width #

Exact filter width if column filters position is LEFT or RIGHT. Minimum filter width if column filters position is ABOVE or BELOW. Does not affect column filters width in HEADER.
